I work at a place called “The Farm” and i do a little bit of everything there. literally. this summer alone i have worked a school reunions, corporate dinners and lunches, sold fireworks, sold sweet corn, babysat. this fall she has asked that i come home for a couple weekends to help with an outdoor wedding and reception, a big wedding reception, a music show and dinner. see, a little bit of everything. i am not really sure how to include this job on my resume. 🙂 i guess it’s a good conversation piece when a future employee asks how i am a firework salesman and sweet corn representative and server and event planner all at one location.
a few highlights of this job is first and foremost the lady i work with. she is almost 30 🙂 and an amazing mom of two. we talk and laugh and most of the time forget we are working. tonight was hilarious as usual. the restaurant that was to cater the meat for our event forgot about us and showed up 53 minutes after they were supposed to. the dessert was done but we didn’t even have a main course meat there! so i being the girl i am suggested, well they are a bunch of john deere folks, give ’em their dessert first. i mean what goes better with their chilled beer than cherry dump cake! 🙂 ha. ya she did not go for my idea.
another highlight is getting to spend time with my babies. kailey and abbey are my babies who i babysat and spent countless hours with since they were babies. now kay is 13 and abbey 11. it’s weird. so tonight abbey and her friend babysat while jeanne and i worked. it is just so much fun taking her home afterward. she constantly makes me laugh. it is impossible to not see and experience joy when with her. I love her.
shania (on the left) was a little scared and not sure what to do with me. but abbey knows the drill. call mom, tell her we are going to sonic, see what she wants, pose for picture once we stop. 🙂 ah sweet memories.
i love my unpredictable, tiring, always working an hour over what you think, sporadic job.
