One of the things I love about my job is the fact that I get to encourage our female leaders. I get to spend time with them, live life with them, share what God’s teaching me and write them emails.
It’s been raining here for the last couple of days. The sod in our front yard is soaking – the grass seed in the back is a muddy river. And it’s been dreary! So yesterday I took a break from working on this week’s talk to touch base with my ladies. Figured perhaps some of you would need it as well.
To My Ladies,
Sometimes I like to drop in and give you all a virtual hug. Today is one of those days. It’s dreary out, kinda cold – easy to get that blah feeling about today– which easily turns into a blah feeling about life and everything.
Sometimes I welcome days like today – when it feels like a gentle rain washing out all the nasty in your life and you’re so expectant of the sun to break through the clouds and refresh you in every way. And then other times we let dreary days control our outlook. We become blah, our dreams become blurred and our hearts feel detached. Don’t get me wrong – I totally get it. Ask Jessica, I do my fair share of unnecessary complaining, and over stupid things like “We are all out of pickled okra! How can that happen???” (ps – it happens when you eat 3 of them every night as a “bed time snack”)
Draw close to God today. Lean on Him. Whether you are down and feel like your life is a soggy wet mess or you are dancing in the rain waiting for what’s next, draw near to Him. This morning I have been camped on Romans 8:35-39 and honestly – it’s overwhelming. Check it out
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Oh glory! Nothing can separate me from His love. My past – washed away. My attitude – He’s dealing with. My worries – He’s already thought of it. My fears – He’s fought that battle already. My dreams – He is molding them. My hurts – He’s got them. This dreary day – another day to connect people to his love.
Nothing separates us from His love. And sometimes we just need to be reminded of that. Regardless of our jobs, circumstances, highs and lows we are not alone. So I hope on this rainy day you feel encouraged and loved. See you all Wednesday!
